Overnight
and Daytime care available.
A
postpartum doula helps the new mom with the care of the infant,
including providing counsel and support for the new mother on
such skills as baby care and giving breastfeeding a good start.
Postpartum Doulas are trained to recognize the signs of Postpartum
Depression and when they do they help the mother and her family
to look for medical help to be treated early.
Postpartum
Doulas can help you get more sleep. You can take better care of
your baby and family when you get more sleep. This will also get
you on your way to a faster recovery. The transition from hospital
to home becomes much more comfortable.
Many
new mothers feel that, if they could just get a few nights of
good sleep, they could more easily face the sharp learning curve
and the physical demands of caring for their new baby or babies.
Did
you know that sleep deprivation can be one of the leading causes
of postpartum depression? Hospital stays are so short that mothers
(and their partners) have little time to rest and recover from
the birth. Women just like you are being sent home exhausted and
are still expected to care for a new baby around the clock with
little or no sleep.
Even
new mothers who had a planned or an unexpected Caesarean delivery
are sent home very soon after giving birth. In this case, you
have the surgery to recover from as well as giving care and attention
to your new baby.
